Named in honor of labor rights champion Dolores Huerta, Dolores Apartments brings 67 affordable homes to Hillsboro's growing Tanasbourne neighborhood. Developed by Hacienda CDC, the community was created to provide stable, high-quality housing for families while celebrating the cultural diversity and heritage that define Washington County.
The three-story development includes a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments designed to serve households earning between 30% and 60% of Area Median Income. Recognizing the need for family-sized housing in the region, the community includes a significant number of larger units, along with permanent supportive housing homes supported through a partnership with New Narrative.
Working closely with Hacienda and Access Architecture, LMC delivered a community that prioritizes connection, accessibility, and long-term livability. Inspired by the work of prominent Mexican architects and the site's agricultural history as a former hazelnut orchard, the building's design reflects the cultural identity of the community it serves while creating welcoming spaces for residents to gather and engage with one another.
Dolores features a variety of resident-focused amenities, including community rooms, a community garden, landscaped courtyard spaces, covered outdoor gathering areas, a children's play area, bike storage, and offices for on-site resident services. Sustainable building features such as rooftop solar panels, heat-pump systems, and other energy-efficient strategies contribute to lower operating costs while supporting long-term environmental stewardship.
As Hacienda's first affordable housing community in Washington County, Dolores represents an important investment in housing stability and equitable access to opportunity. Through collaboration with public agencies, community partners, and the project team, LMC helped deliver a development that provides more than housing. It creates a place where individuals and families can build connections, access resources, and thrive for generations to come.
