Mamook Tokatee is a 56-unit affordable housing development located in Portland’s Cully neighborhood. The project includes a mix of studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, along with five artist lofts. Designed to serve households earning 30% to 60% of the area median income, 35% of the units are reserved for members of the Siletz Tribe or other federally recognized tribes. The building also includes shared amenities such as a community room, artist studio, and outdoor gathering spaces. The development emphasizes cultural expression and community connection, with design elements and programming that reflect Native American heritage.
The project was developed through a partnership between Community Development Partners and the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA), with funding from 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Oregon Housing and Community Services, the Siletz Tribe’s Indian Housing Block Grant, and a Metro Transit-Oriented Development grant. Completed in 2022, Mamook Tokatee achieved Earth Advantage Platinum certification and integrates resident services focused on cultural identity, self-sufficiency, and community engagement. A Resident Services Coordinator and Cultural Arts Coordinator work together to support programming that strengthens community bonds and celebrates Native traditions.
